A former member of Glasgow-based comedy collective, The Funny Farm, John Gillick is one of the most experienced and accomplished stand-up comedians in Scotland today. He was there at the start of the renaissance of Scottish comedy and has been beating a path for other comics to follow ever since.
John has appeared in films, guested on BBC Radio Scotland's 'Off The Ball' and 'Velvet Cabaret' as well as headlining clubs and theatres throughout the UK and abroad.
With his composed on-stage presence, John's wry observations on life are never less than hysterical, with fantastic one-liners, hilarious real-life characters and situations, delivered in his own engaging and self deprecating style.
In addition to his vast experience on the UK comedy circuit, John is a regular headliner at the 'Best of Scottish Comedy' shows during the Edinburgh Fringe, and has also appeared in his own highly acclaimed solo shows at both Edinburgh and Glasgow Festivals. No stranger to critical acclaim, John Gillick has been described as 'sublime' - 'reminiscent of a less sardonic Arnold Brown' Scotsman and compared to Dylan Moran with his 'deceptively precise musings' List.
'the best kind of West of Scotland stand-up ... could make you laugh just reading the shinty results' Scotsman
