Susan Calman
Susan Calman is one of Scotland's
rising stars in the world of comedy. After seven years of
being a corporate lawyer, Susan decided to try her hand at
stand-up comedy. Just over a year after her first gig she decided
that being a comedian was much more fun and gave up her glamorous
career to try and make people laugh.
Susan is now a regular compere at
the
Stand comedy clubs in Glasgow and Edinburgh where she
is the resident host of the monthly show “Sistars”. In the
course of her hundreds of gigs she has performed at the Comedy
Store in London and Manchester and was a finalist in the
Funny Women competition in 2006. She hosted 'Best of
Scottish' during the Edinburgh Festival and has appeared
numerous times on Radio Scotland.
Susan performed her one woman show
Short Story, to a sell out audience at the
Glasgow
Comedy Festival in 2006 and has taken a new show to the
festival in 2007.
She has written sketches for BBC
Radio Scotland’s Watson’s Wind Up and continues to write
for numerous radio and television shows. Susan has also appeared
in a number of pilot and taster episodes of programmes produced by
the Comedy Unit and RDF.
In demand throughout the UK as a
compere and host, Susan is also a charismatic speaker and her
background and skills make her an ideal choice as an after dinner
speaker, or to provide corporate entertainment.
