Tony Carter
Tony Carter, aka William
Andrews, was fortunate enough to win the Tap Water Award at
Edinburgh Festival in 2003 after only a few months doing
stand up. Even more fortunate, and possibly to do with some
serious flirting with a department editor at a party, he was named
as number 62 in the lists 'hot 100' creative folk of Scotland in
Jan of 2004.
Coming from a background in writing
and film making and after graduating in photography from
Edinburgh College of Art, his first comedy experience was as a
member of a successful sketch show with BBC writer Ewan John
And Perrier best newcomer award winner Garth Cruickshank
which ran with four and five star reviews at the Fringe in 2001,
2002 and 2003.
He has gone on to find acclaim as a
stand up in his own right and last year started working with the
Comedy Unit in Glasgow (Chewing the Fat, Still
Game) developing a six part series intended for television and
several other smaller broadcast projects. 2004 saw Tony’s debut
solo show take the Edinburgh Festival by storm.
Having had several short film roles
and written and directed several pieces himself William Andrews
has had diverse experience in performance and production. Oh…. And
he was in Bargain Hunt as a contestant.
'Carter the unstoppable comedy machine.....He effortlessly stole
the show. winning the audience over with his cheeky grin and
endearing nerviness'
