Fred MacAulay: Tour 2008

Mr Radio Scotland himself, Fred MacAulay, is stepping out of the studio and the hitting the road with a new show for 2008. Throughout May and June, he’ll be touring the length and breadth of Scotland taking in major venues such as Dundee Rep and The Palace Theatre, Kilmarnock together with more intimate affairs at Cromarty Old Brewery and An Lanntair on Stornaway.

One thing’s for sure- Fred is no ordinary comedian and this will be no ordinary tour. Whether it’s an afternoon gig in the heart of the Cairngorms at Boat of Garten, headlining The Festival Club at Burns an’ a’ that! or opening his show with a rousing salute from the Strathpeffer Pipe Band,  Scotland had better expect the unexpected from one of its most famous comedy faces. And it’s not just the home crowd he’ll be keeping on their toes- the man is so much in demand that the tour will also include excursions to renowned comedy festivals in Kilkenny and Halifax, Nova Scotia.

As well as brightening up our mornings thanks to his long-running BBC Radio Scotland morning show MacAulay & Co, Fred is a favourite BBC Radio 4 guest, making regular appearances on the likes of Loose Ends, I’m Sorry, I Haven’t A Clue and The News Quiz. He also has enough TV credits to make Carol Vorderman look camera shy, including two series of Life According To Fred for BBC Scotland and STV’s McCoist and MacAulay and Fred MacAulay’s Fringe.

Now catch Fred doing what he does best as he presents a brand new package of witticisms about life and living in Scotland today. Effortlessly warm and conversational, Fred’s affable demeanour belies a sharp and sometimes dark wit that really shines in his stand-up. No matter whether an audience is divided between young and old, alternative or mainstream, the broad appeal of Fred MacAulay always adds up to a side-splitting night out.

‘MacAulay had the audience in stitches’ Hollywood Reporter

'Rib-achingly funny, one of the funniest men alive' Sunday Times

'Rapier-sharp' Scotsman
